Call for Public Art – Detroit
Access Arts is calling out to all artists, engineers, landscape architects, arts educators, and lovers of Detroit’s infinitely unique Belle Isle Park for our 6th Belle Isle Public Art Exhibit. We are accepting proposals that activate the landscape, explore the park’s history, engage people, and cause further exploration into the venue and its nuanced environments.
This year’s exhibition is being focused on collaborative projects and educational programming. We encourage proposals for workshops, team based projects, and projects that are interactive. When creating your proposal, include sketches, photos, video, and any other supporting media.
Selected projects will receive a $350.00 stipend to help cover the cost of materials, labor, and transportation. Artists will be invited to participate in an exhibit tour and artist talk.
Belle Isle is a very special place in the heart of Detroit. It’s a great honor and privilege to have access to the park’s landscape for the purposes of making art. If you would like to participate in an exhibit at Belle Isle as an artist, download the application for the Belle Isle exhibit below.
Proposals must be received by May 1, 2012. Selected projects will be announced on May 12, 2012. Send questions & comments to info@AccessArtsDetroit.org. Exhibition Opens: June 23, 2012
