Miami University Young Sculptors Competition

THE COMPETITION
Year 2011: Non-Representational Sculpture only
Young Sculptors, U.S. residents, ages 25 – 35 as of competition entry are invited to participate in a biennial juried competition for the 2011 $10,000.00 William and Dorothy Yeck Award. Entrants should have achieved a significant degree of success as an emerging artist of noteworthy talent. The winner will become part of the Miami University Best Young Sculptors of the Twenty-First Century Collection.

$1,000 Third Place

JUROR
Dann Nardiʼs has received numerous awards including National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships and grants from the Illinois Arts Council for his work in sculpture. He has exhibited on a national and international scale in venues such as the Chicago Cultural Center, The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Chicago, the University of Milwaukee Art Museum and at Documenta Galeria de Arte, San Paulo, Brazil. His many site-specific commissions include public works at the campuses of the University of Illinois, Chicago and Champaign/Urbana, Northern Illinois University and at Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, Inc, Collegeville, Pennsylvania. His works are also in numerous corporate collections including
Coca-Cola Corporation, GA, Philip Morris Company, NY, and Home Box Office, NY.  Nardi lives and works in Normal, Illinois.

ENTRY FEE: $25.00

MATERIAL
Permanent; bronze, stone, ceramics, glass, aluminum, steel, wood etc. Entries may also be submitted in maquette form, and if chosen as the winning entry would be cast at a later date, with the provision that the expense of casting shall be deducted from the $10,000 award.

DIMENSIONS
Not less than 12”; not to exceed 60” in any dimension.
Weight: 100 lbs., maximum
Works completed in the last three years.
